Coquette is my favorite lingerie brand. Hot pink and black are my favorite colors. When Coquette comes out with lingerie in hot pink and black, I must have it. I was super excited to receive the Coquette Kissable Patterned Chemise from PinkCherry.com.
The Patterned Chemise comes in one size fits most. It includes the chemise only. It is not an underwire piece.
SIZING
Coquette’s one size fits most should fit dress sizes 6-12. It should fit bust measurements between 36″-38″ with a B cup. Waist measurements should be between 28″-30″. Hip measurements should be between 38″-40″.
My dress size is a 6 with some size 4 and 8 pieces in there. My waist measures 28″ and my hips measure 39″. My bust is a 34DD/36D. I’m 5’6″ height.
The chemise is 23.5″ long. Under the bust is 11″. The waist is 12″. The hips are 15″. Under each cup is 5.5″. They are 6″ from the top of the cup to the bottom. The straps are adjustable. The back is not a snap closure like a bra, just a pull over.
This piece is very short on me. I think this has something to do with the design of the ruffles at the bottom as well as the length. The ruffles come up when you wear it, so that takes them out of the overall length. I don’t really mind short things in the bedroom, but it could be an issue for taller women. It also tended to ride up even further when I walked.
The waist portion fit just about perfectly on me. The hip area was a little clingy and the material started to pull. I’m on the smaller end of the size chart, so I’m thinking this particular chemise won’t work for the sizes Coquette says it will. It will probably work for sizes below the listed chart, however.
The cups actually held my D/DD cups well for being made for B cups. I didn’t feel like I was popping out of the top. There’s no underwire, so there wasn’t any chest support. The little ribbons tried their best, but holding up larger cups is really more of a job for wires, not ribbons.
MATERIAL
The Patterned Chemise is made of 82% nylon and 18% spandex exclusive of trim. It is a mesh material. The mesh is see through but the black color does hide things somewhat.
The material feels somewhat scratchy to the touch. When on, it’s not scratchy at all. It’s a very comfortable piece to wear. The material is thin, so it’s not a soft or plush material. I’m pretty sensitive to itchy or uncomfortable materials and I was able to wear this to sleep in.
The mesh has some stretch to it, allowing it to fit more sizes than a non-stretching material would. The seams of the main portions of the chemise also have stretch. The seams at the hip where the ruffle attaches do not.
DESIGN
The straps of the Patterned Chemise are done in hot pink ribbon. Hot pink material lines the cups as well as the back of the chemise. The cups themselves are black mesh with little pink bows on them. The bows feel velvety and are raised a small amount up from the mesh. In between the cups is a medium sized hot pink bow.
The middle of the chemise has three hot pink stripes down it. These are done in the same material as the lining around the cups and back of the chemise. The middle stripe is straight while the outer two are curved inward for a slimming effect on the waist.
The bottom of the chemise has a ruffle design. It’s done in the same black mesh as the rest of the chemise. The seaming at bottom of the ruffle is done in hot pink for an added accent.
The design of the Patterned Chemise is cute yet sexy. The bows give it a girly appearance but the coloring gives it a sexy pop. The stripes down the middle work well to slim the waistline which is always good, especially in an unforgiving mesh material.
QUALITY
Kissable is Coquette’s more affordable line of lingerie. It’s usually pretty high quality, but not as high quality as Coquette’s more expensive pieces. I tend to find less flaws on Kissable lingerie than similar priced pieces by other brands.
On the Patterned Chemise, I was able to find a few loose threads. There were a few areas near seams that had some light fraying. The seams lined up well so that there wasn’t excess material.
The quality isn’t perfect, but for the price it’s good. I have some Kissable pieces with no loose threads on them and some with about the same amount as the Patterned Chemise.
CARE
The Patterned Chemise should be hand washed in cold water. It should be line dried. It should not be placed in a dryer or bleached. It should not be ironed.
PACKAGING
The Patterned Chemise comes in the normal Kissable box. The front says “Kissable by Coquette” on it. It shows a model wearing the chemise. The back has a photo of the same model wearing the chemise shown from the back. It has a few sentences that say what is included in the package and a little about the chemise.
I actually use the boxes the Kissable line comes in to store the pieces. It’s nice because there’s a photo on them so I know what’s what. They take up a ton of space though, so if your drawers are already exploding that won’t be an option.
PERSONAL EXPERIENCE
I really love the design of the Patterned Chemise. I love the coloring and the little bow pattern on the cups. I like the stripes in the middle that seem to create a bit of a slimming effect.
I’m not a big fan of how tight this is on my hips. My hips are the area I try to hide with lingerie, so when a piece draws more attention to that area it’s never great. It probably wouldn’t do this so much if the material didn’t start to grab and bunch up there. I still really like this, I’d just like it more if it had a little more wiggle room in the hips.
The ride up of the length is a bit annoying. I usually only wear lingerie for bedroom purposes and not just for lounging around so it’s not a huge deal. The length doesn’t bother me, but it is pretty short.
My husband has deemed this “cute.” That’s a kiss of death for lingerie. Not that I still don’t wear lingerie he finds “cute,” but he’s never thrilled with me when I do. He tends to like lingerie on the sexier side rather than the cute and girly side. I happen to really like the girly details of this chemise, so this is one he’ll be seeing again even if he does think it’s too cutesy.
Despite some things that I would change, I really do like this chemise. The coloring and design win out over the clingy hip problem for me. I like that I can even wear this to sleep in. Not having to get up to change after sex may not sound like a big deal, but when you just want to pass out and are forced to get up to get out of uncomfortable “sexy” clothes you start to see why sleep ready lingerie is handy.
IN CONCLUSION
Pros: Cute yet sexy design, Great color scheme, Slimming to waist
Cons: Tight at hips, Won’t fit all sizes listed in chart
Rating: 4/5
Intensity: N/A
Noise: N/A
